    Hi everybody,

    In the Bb Clarinet library, I noticed that the first note in a series of legatos is slightly delayed and it seems that this is the way the samples have been recorded (it's not a CPU latency issue). While this is totally acceptable for a layed-back swing style (for which the vibrato-less Bb clarinet I was definitely not designed), it sounds wrong in the context of classical music. I find it particularly ennoying since the following legato notes start much more precise, so that a sequence of several short series of legato notes just sounds messed up.

    To cope with that, I am currently using two clarinet tracks and with each series of legato notes, I switch the track and program the first note of the series to begin before it is supposed to.

    Is there a more straightforward way to do this?

    I assume you have tried changing the starting position of the delayed notes? Which version of the clarinet is it? Special Edition or standard/full version from Woodwinds I?

    I am using the full version which I have just bought separately, so I think it is the newest version.

    Yes, I changed the starting position which somehow solved my problem, but in order to do this, I have to use two tracks (the adjusted starting position may preceed the end of the previous note).

    Does this happen on all legato patches like legato fast? If you have VI Pro you could enable polyphony on legato patches so that you don't need two tracks if it's only legato patches.

    I'll check with legato fast later. To give you an idea about the order of magnitude: in order to sound properly, I set the beginning of a note about 200ms earler. I do not have VI pro, unfortunately.

    Just in case you haven't noticed: a legato patch will play a transition from ANY patch, not just from a legato starting note. So simply use a different articulation for the first of a series of legato notes, for example long portamento with hard attack, then switch to legato.
