  • Sibelius and cubase - xml export and work-flow

    hi

I try and export xml from Sibelius to Cubase,

but the articulaion map exported from Sibelius is layed out totally different then on Cubase .

which render the export xml more of a problem then a help.

any way to fix this ?

    another question -

I find that it is  a lot for me to add and change articulation and write on Sibelius ,

but mixing the multitrack is much easier cubase . (rewire sibelius is just for the stereo mix if i am not mistaken)

how do i get around this ?

    thanks a lot

    Assif

  • Hello Assif!

If you only need Cubase for the mix and the notation layout is not important for you, I would export a MIDI file with Sibelius and not a Music XML file. By exporting a MIDI file you can include the keyswitches that are genereated by the sound set(s) of your currently loaded Playback Configuration.

How to change articulations with Sibelius is explained in the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual and in our "VSL and Sibelius" tutorial video.

  • hi Andi

Thanks, importing the midi works, but I can't see the exprassion map if I want to change something.

then i have to swich through the midi file adding marks . no way to change that ?

how does rewire works ? from sibelius to cubase . I read in one of your anwers that thisis hw you work.

    thanks

    Assif

  • Hello Assif!

If you have imported a MIDI file from Sibelius with Cubase, you can't use VST Expression Maps for this file, because the keyswitches are already in there. If you want to change a keyswitch, it's best to do so in the Cubase Key Editor.

It is possible to rewire Sibelius with Cubase. How that works is explained in the Cubase and Sibelius manuals.

    Best,
    Andi
