  • Combining house styles in Sibelius for EWQLSO and SE Vienna Strings

I have been using EWQLSO for a year and have just bought SE Vienna Strings, because I am unsatisfied with the strings in EW. I would like to have a customized house style in Sibelius 6.2 which combines the two libraries so that I can use the Vienna Strings and have them play back properly while all of the EWQLSO sounds in the other instruments also play back properly. Is there a way to do this? I have not found any discussion on this on the Web.

My alternative would be to make two versions of the score for mockup purposes. The first with EW to build the orchestration, using the EW house style. I would then export audio to my sequencer, muting the strings. Then I would save as a copy of the score to import the Vienna house style and export audio of the strings only. It would be a cumbersome process if it is not possible to combine the playback libraries....

    Thanks for any input.

    Wes

  • Hello Wes!

You can start with one House Style and then import the other. I may be wrong, but I think this way you don't loose the dictionary entries from the first House Style, but the new ones are added.

    Best regards,
    Andi
