    When I play perfromance legato patches in some instruments (mainly woodwind) I get a sliding sound between some notes.  How can I acheive a more natural legato sound?

    Whatever you hear between legato notes is the recorded transition, so you are hearing a natural sound. Without hearing what you mean by more natural I can't give you any suggestions.

    For speaking of the same thing it is always good to publish an example. So I don't know what you really mean with "unnatural".

    Some information about "legeto" with wind instruments:

    Changing the sound of new notes with wind instruments without using the tongue as well needs some time until the new "resonance" of the new wanted tone is stable. All these changing sounds including the the "flop" of the keys are those legato sounds.

    Believe me: VSL is a company which catched those legato sounds VERY, VERY, VERY natural - as DG mentioned above as well. If you feel that they go on too long then you could try to use the articulation "legato-fast" - though they only are available with full libraries.

    Also, if there is too much transition for you, you can raise the attack slider. I think it is mapped to cc22. The higher the attack slider, the less transition and attack you will hear.
