  • What should I buy ?

    Hello,

I'm actually working on a string quartet project with Sibelius sounds but I was considering to get VSL samples. I'm doing this as a hobby and I don't have much money at the moment.

I was thinking to buy Special Edition Strings 1 but saw there is solo and orhcestral string in it, and I only need the solo part. So I have some questions.

Can I upgrade later from special edition to String 1 complete instrument if I need to ? How much will it cost to me to do this upgrade ?

Should I buy directly the complete instrument ? I saw in forums that VI pro is more or less needed when using special edition, is it true for complete instrument as well ?

My proc is an i7 and I only got 7G ram.

  • Hi lollidepop,

Yes, you can upgrade from the Special Editions to the bigger Collections, the instruments you already registered will be taken into account when upgrading (you will see your upgrade price to the bigger collections as "Your price", depending on your purchase (Solo Strings I or/and Solo Strings II with muted articulations, and the Standard or FULL Library).

VI PRO is a great addition for any of our collections, here you will benefit a lot from having an SSD drive available (faster loading, less RAM consumption).

It probably "just" depends on your expectations and your budget, I´m afraid.

You can always contact us at support@vsl.co.at with more details about your ideas, we´ll do our best to help with your decision!

    Best,
    Paul

  • Thanks Paul. I think I'll wait some more so I can buy the Solo Strings I standard.
