    I'm a long time Finale user and am comfortable and proficient with it.  That said whenever I use it with VSL it crashes.  This is of course very frustrating but equally frustrating is that I have to incorporate a sequencer (Reaper in my case) into my workflow to enable playback of my VSL instruments. 

    So my thought was if Notion integrates well with VSL why not port things with music XML from Finale to notion and at least I stay in a notation "realm" with some ability to modify midi data, though I seldom tweak much.

    I guess what I don't know is if I'd have the same problems with Notion and VSL crashing not knowing why it happens with Finale/VSL combo.  The other unknown is what might get lost porting files back and forth as I edit pieces, etc. 

    Does anyone use Notion this way?  Any thoughts?

    Hi Steve,

    Notion is a pleasure to use nad has good VSL integration (with SE). It's much less sophisticated then Finale in terms of noation, but a great tool for composing.

    There's a demo available, so you can check it out. Also, the cost of a crossgrade from Finale is only $50.

    I use VSL every day with Notion and I rarely have crashes.  As Bill implies, you might find that you can do most work in Notion and use Finale only for final engraving niceties.

    Hello Steve!

    Our sample libraries can also be used with Finale. It's not normal that Finale crashes when trying to load our instruments with it. Can you send a more detailed description of what you were trying to do and what exctly happens to support@vsl.co.at?

    Andi, I'll put something together and send it along.  Yes my preference really is to continue using Finale only so I'd like to figure out the crashing problem.  At least I'd like to know if it's VSL or Finale or neither for that matter.
