  • Possible To Move VE Channel From VST2 Instance To VST3 Instance?

I've painted myself into a bit of a corner. Without realizing it I began setting up a new Cubase template thinking I was doing so with the VST3 version of Vienna Ensemble (Standard, not Pro), but in fact I was working with the VST2 version.

Somehow, in a way I don't yet understand,  with the Cubase 8 upgrade things changed. I've made the necessary changes to make the VST3 version available for insertion as a plugin, but I'm stuck with the work I've done so far in the VST2 instance.

Is there any way to "move" the channels I've created in the VST2 instance to a new VST3 instance? Or am I left with having to recreate my work from scratch?

  • Quite a few things you can do. However, probably the easiest is to disconnect the instances from the host and then connect to a VST3 connector. If you want to combine your instances into one instance, save viframes and then use the Merge Project feature of VEP

  • Thanks for the reply, DG.

I am working with VE Standard, not Pro.

I do have frames saved under the VST2 instance. Will I be able to simply load those frames into the VST3 instance? Is it that simple?

  • I think you'll have to try it for yourself. I can't answer the question because I haven't used VE for years. Sorry.
