I have lots of samples the I have composed myself.  I would like to know if I can use these in the Pro series or Pro 2 ??  Possibly, some type of conversion or by other means, if it's even necessary?  Thank you- 😕

  • Unfortunately VI and VIP are closed players, so you'll have to use something like Kontakt instead.

Actually, I have Kontakt but my question is what about the sould quality.  Last year I was at my buddies house. He played some veinna strings for me on Kontakt;  then played the same vienna strings for me in Vienna.   The sound of Vienna smoked Kontakt on those strings, which is the reason I bought Vienna.  I know Kontakt will even let you use your custom samples, apperently Vienna will not.  Can't figure out why.  Most Kontakt users dispise Vienna for that.  Has to have a lot to do with just about everyone I know having Kontakt and so few with Vienna.  I'm a computer tech.  Do you  remember the mac started out with virtually a closed platform.  Even though it was a better computer & OS, it lost out horribly to the PC and made all the programers and of course Microsoft, really, really rich.  To this day apple computer hasn't recovered, at least not on the computer platform, now the iphons, ipads, etc. are something else.  Apple's sales are unbelievable, but the open platform "Samsung androids" are piosed just like to PC was.  Even the mighty Protools had to change their platform, come over tothePC & legacy, make cheaper systems, etc., the list goes on in the worlds of the very rich.  The closed platform is a dangerous game to play aginst any competiton.  Why is there even a need when you have them beat on quality?  The same happened with the VHS & Bata recorders  There's more poor, middle clase, etc. in the world than there is the rich, by far.

    Anyway....

I think I read somthing about using Vienna with your sofware sequecer,  maybe I'll explore that, perhaps it will allow me to combine my costom samples with vienna's; don't know.  Might just have to go back toKontakt, for the versatile & time consuming jobs.  But I want to end this on a good note saying, I like Vienna's sound & I'm glad they bought the price down & they did open thier platform somewhat, it helps.  Excuse my typos, my neice poured a slushy on my keybaords and tshe keys are sticking; a new one is in the mail.  I tried to make my 6 year old niece pay for them, but once she gave me that innocent face, it was all over.  Plus, it probably had something to do with the fact that she doesn't have a job.  I would have ended up giving her the money (which she probably wouldn't have given back) then taking it back & paying for it.   So I just dropped it.  Look, I have tell somebody, that girl is really cheap.  I just had to say it; I mean... she would even give you a chicken nugget.

Thanks good buddy for your time.

  • If you could play the identical samples in Kontakt and the VI player, they would sound the same. If they didn't there would actually be something wrong with the audio engine of either app. However, where players differ is in the features, such as filters, velocity curves etc. and this is where people can prefer one over the other.

Thanks good buddy, I'll look into it.

  • Don't compare apples and oranges. Kontakt is a sampler, it comes with some free library content, but its purpose is to use and edit own or third party content. You can compare it to an AKAI S1000.

VI is a Virtual instrument which is made of samples. You basically buy the samples (and in former times you could use them in a software sampler like EXS or Giga), while VI is the PlugIn that gives you acces to them. You can compare it to a EMU Proteus Expander. You cannot load your own samples into an EMU.
