Let's say you have 1 or 2 staccato notes. Does it matter if you use the stac. patch or the pref-rep stac? If it doesn't, why not just use the pref-rep patch all the time and not even load the non patch to save resources. This question pertains to and of the pref-rep patches.

Repetition patch is another type of short notes. They have been record differently, by playing fast repeated notes. They usualy sound better for repeated notes passage and for spiccato. Single normal staccato patch have wider dynamic range cause they where recorded one at a time.

A (slightly off-topic) side-note, just to avoid confusion: The articulation is called "perf-rep" for "performance repetition", not "pref rep" (although it might be your preferred tool for repetitions! ;-D ...).
