Does anyone know where I can get sounds such as floor movement, breathing, page turning, etc I've heard people talk about adding stuff like that to make the performance sound even more real but I have not found anything like that so far.

  • You could probably, with a little effort, put something usably like that together with a few sample libraries containing effects such as movement, etc, and some of the "noises : found on various sample instrument collectiond (knocks near a vioin bridge, etc - the Advanced Orchestra stuff has some of that), all through a nice reverb for the proper room. Actually there are quite a lot of "human" effects to be found for free on the net. lo-fi but ok for this purpose.

A cleverer alternative might be to record the few seconds before the start, or between movements, of a live radio concert.

-or, better still, why not order large amounts of pizza and champagne ( +beer for the tuba player of course) , rent the carnegie hall, and invite us all over with our instruments for the evening to breathe and bump into things as you direct.....?

For floor movement, as Evan said, you *need* to be in LA. You might also need to be very patient, though.

  • Oh, sorry Dave, knew i should've PM'd you first on that one.... [6] Did you get that, calaf5?

Actually I believe Calaf5 is already preparing a thread where we can all post our drinks orders for the Carnegie Hall Breathing'n'Bumping Sessions.

And there are also rumors of Nick Phoenix wanting to get involved for a potential Kompakt VI. With auto-alternation of In-Breaths and OutBreaths.

He's thinking of calling it StormBump.

    You heard it here first.

  • Welcome to the VSL Comedy Improv, ladies and gentlemen. You're looking beautiful tonight. Where you from? Hey...me, too!

Hey, don't forget to tip your waitresses. You've been a beautiful audience.

(One of my favorite humorists, Dave Barry, just announced a sabbatical. Who needs the bum. I have the VSL forum!) [:D]

Hey, and speaking of beautiful sample libraries, have you seen this?

  • Sorry, calaf5. We're floating WAY off topic, here. But dang, it's fun.

  • Hey Fred, that's a ROTFLMAO link..... [:D]

Calaf 5 is very quiet....either he's p-d that we hijacked his thread, or he's anxious about footing the drinks bill and hopes we'll leave early if he stays quiet.

  • Just got back from visiting my wife's grandmother in the hospital -(heart attack)- bypass surgery this Mon. Sweet lady. 84!

Anyway thanks for the laughs guys. They were much needed. About Carnegie Hall....how does say...next Wed sound? I think I can squeeze it in.

...until then I'll do some more searching on the internet for those sounds.

  • Hi Calaf5

hmmm...Wednesday is tight for me....could i send a Bump Dep? I'll go through the chair scraping passage with him beforehand, and he's an experienced breather, so no problem there.

All the best for your Grandma-in-law. Those old folks are a treasure.

  • I just had a brilliant idea [I]

Foley for music. All you would need is yourself for breathing, some papers, a couple of bows and other little toys. Because just putting a random bed of sound is ok but this would be customized for each piece.
