  • Bb Trumpets a3?

Do any VSL products offer a section of Bb Trumpets or are the all in C?

    Aric

  • The Dimension Brass has Trumpets in Bb (up to 4 of them)

  • Perfect! I have Demension Brass.  I didn't realize they were in Bb.  I thought they were in C.

    Thanks,

    Aric

  • I just want to make sure I'm creating my ensemble correctly.  Currently in cell A1 I'm going to the advanced tab and putting Tr-P1_portato in slot 1a and cross fading to slot 1b with the Tr-P1_sus patch.  I beleive that this will give me a smooth transition between slot 1a and 1b.  Correct?  I would then continue down the rest of the slots in this manner using the same articulations with players 2-4.  Is there a better way to create and ensemble?

    Thanks,

    Aric

  • That will certainly work,  though I wouldn't set it up that way,  I would put articulations in their own cells, using CC's to switch between articulations (Portato, Sus,  etc).

This of course will switch them,  not cross fade them,  but I wouldn't want to crossfade between Portato and Sustain,  but if for some reason you want to crossfade between these two articulations, then your way is the way to do it.

I have in the past mixed Staccato with Sustain to give a better attack to the sound (mainly string sounds),  so I can see why you may want to crossfade (mix) the two articulations.

  • Thanks for the reply.  I'm still new to VSL.  There's a lot to take in.  Are your thoughts for live performances, sequencing or does it matter?
