Dear Composers,
I´d like to use my improvisational skills on guitar also for Film Music, quasi "Stummfilm"-Approach not putting notes by mouse together as far as possible. "You play what you see..."
So I set up a MIDI Guitar, Roland VG 99, MacBook Pro Quad Core 2.5 Ghz, VSL Special Edition. Best stuff available I guess.
When working around with a orchestral violin sound, latency is too high to have a good feel and soon dropouts and klicks appear.
I experimented in Ensemble5s buffers (0-2), got down to 128 samples buffersize in my audio settings of the vg99 and varied all of this.
A certain amount of latency lies in VG 99, too.
The harddrives are lacies with FW 800 connected to my macBook. Maybe this is another leak for higher performance
Before I start buying new internal SSDs,to try out more, what would you suggest here in regards to play a lot vs. Programming?
In general: What would be a good setup using one MacBook Pro in your oppinion. Is it true that there is a preload option for ssd harddrives? MIDI Guitar set asside, just assume a keyboard setup.
THX
