  • Anyone using Dimension Strings + MIR Pro in dense orchestrations with zero sample drops?

    Hi All

I've been using Dimension Strings for a while now, and even though my computer is super powerful I still can't seem to run Dimension Strings without sample drops when the music is very dense. Keep in mind that I am only talking about when I have tons of orchestration going on: all sections of Dimension Strings, layered with Orchestral Strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion...the whole lot of it. Throw MIR Pro on top of that!

CPU usage is fine, but my bottleneck seems to be my sample streaming. Everything is on SSDs/SATA 3 controllers. Sample preload size for Dimension Strings is set to 8192. ASIO buffer at 1052 still causes sample dropouts.

I'm just trying to figure out if there is something wrong in my system, or I am being unrealstic with my demands.

It would be great if we could get the Dimension Strings ensembles saved as single patches. I'd rather have faster sample streaming, even if it meant taking up more space on the hard drive for the extra patches.

    Thanks

  • Try to increase preload buffer, it is also important on what buffer do you running audio system. Try 1024. And also try to check your SSD as they are falling on speed after some time. I have Samsung EVO and after about half year the speed was on 50% [:@] I need to install some special fix from Samsung and now it works. SSD disks are still little unrelialble unless you have some expensive solutions...

  • Man, more than 8192? Dimension Strings already takes long enough to load [:'(]

I am aware of the Samsung EVO bug and fixed it with their patch. IOPS are measuring full speed.

Sample buffer is already at 1024.

    Thanks

  • I think the best solution to this would be to spread out the instruments over different drives e.g. Violins 1&2 on one disc and so on, but I don't think that's possible. It would make a great future update.

  • Thanks. Yes it is possible, and I've tried it. [:)] Maybe I'll try it again and spread things around even more, as the last time I tried it I put Violins and Violas together, and Celli and Basses together. I also put other libraries on these drives as well. Unfortnately I only have 2 SSDs in my slave right now, so I'd have to buy more. Thanks again.

  • I meant separating instruments within sections, such as violin 1-2 on one disc and 2-4 on another and so on. I don't think that's possible. I wouldn't mind buying more drives if I could distribute DS more effectively :)
