  • Exporting VIPRO Sequences into Midi. Is it possible?

I find myself liking many of the VIPRO sequences inside presets and enjoy using them. Although, I'd rather have them in MIDI format rather than playing inside VIPRO (for maintainability purposes). Is this possible? I use Cubase 7.5.

    Thanks!

  • Hello Nektarios,

VI PRO Sequences only live inside the VI PRO sequencer, MIDI Export is not possible (there is more information in the sequences than the MIDI format can handle).

  • Thank you Paul. So I guess it's not even possible to record these notes? Meaning, as the sequence is playing, another midi channel accepting these notes as input so you can record them. I have done this with my hardware synth with it's arpeggios (as the arpeggio is playing I am able to capture the notes). When I try to choose a midi input, I see a "Vienna Instruments Midi" option.

What I love about the sequences is that it's a great learning tool for a newcomer like me. I can see how best to combine the patches to achieve a realistic sound. Totally awesome! For examples, trills, repetitions etc. etc.

  • Hi,

I can´t think of an idea how to record the notes from within the sequence...

But for learning purposes, the internal sequencer is also a great tool, and much more flexible than any sequencer would be, with all the possible inversions...

    Best,

    Paul

  • It's really great. So many questions were answered just by observing some of these sequences. I also love the fact that articulations are color coded. I wish the Cubase expression maps functioned like that (where each articulation is color coded)! Plus switching scales, inversion etc. Really cool stuff.

  • It would be nice to have a simple midi export of just the notes for orchestration purposes. I see the power of the VSL sequencer for creating complex lines that stick to keys really easily (for example runs or ostinato patterns) but then orchestrating these patterns become a pain as its one midi note that triggers these whole sequences. Its funny as this is exactly the purpose, to perform complex lines at the push of a single key, but for those of us who need to eventually score this to paper it would be nice to have an "export" function of some type.
