  • Old Vienna Keys

Is there any virtue or reason for keeping old Vienna keys?  Can they be used for anything else, or are the garbage?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Yes,  I have a growing collection of "old" keys too,

definatley keep them, as if you have a problem with your main key,  you can transfer your licences to an old key, whilst you get yourself a new key,

though if you have more than 2 of these "old" keys hanging around,  it might seem a bit pointless hanging on to all of them,

you could sell them as an empty key (people wanting to demo Cubase need a key for example),  but probably not worth enough to justify trying to do that.

  • I'm thinking of using them as Christmas tree ornaments, or perhaps making them into jewelry!  :-)

  • I have been using Cubase since the parallel port dongle.  Over the years I collected 4 dongles.  For a long time they seemed a waist.  However, when I bought VEP, all of the sudden they were useful.  It's things like that that make me reluctant to sell old gear.  You never know when you'll get some use out of it.

  • Keep in mind that the warranty on Vienna keys is only 2 years. It wouldn't be wise to transfer your licenses to an out of warranty key.
