    Hi,

here is the first choir of the cantata "Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland" that Bach composed during his second year inLeipzig.

J.S BACH - Cantata BWV 62 "Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland"

    Enjoy !

    Very Best

  • This sounds great.  Did you record those soloists? I wanted them  them louder in relation to the orchestra though it sounds beautiful overall.

  • Thanks William.

Soloists of Prague is a small library (Virharmonic) that i just purchased. I feel a lot of potential in it, but i have to work hard to have a decent result.

All these choirs libraries are good and easy to use for vertical writing, slow tempos,  that's all. It's a pity.

    Very best.

  • Again a really beautiful Bach-Cantata-Movement you choosed and as wonderful how you realised.

I am happy the you did not use other instruments instead vocals, meanwhile I definitly know, that there is a lot work to do for acceptable results. But it really seems to me that your wonderful Cantata-recordings benefit from this hard work.

  • Hi Philippe,

Glad to hear the first vocal attempts. It is really nice to hear them as voices, but they don't quite match the quality of your intrument recordings (yet). I suppose you have tried the library to its limits by now. The balance and clearness still have room for improvement, but it is already satisfactory and opening new horizons for the future!

Thanks for the wonderful music again,

    Max

  • Thanks Steffen and Max.

In fact, it's my very first steps with this vocal library. Since this demo, i have discovered much things ...

Because i just pruchase VSL Trombone / Bass trombone, i am working on the Gloria à 12 from Giovanni Gabrieli ...Should be nice ...

    Hi,

here is a new mix of the cantata, with choir and balance improvements. I still don't use the wordbuilder.

    Cantata 62 new mix

    Best.

Why not? (Imho at least the WB is what ad most realism to samplechoirs)

(If I can help you in any open question how to handle the WB just ask/mail me, at least I'll try my best to help)

  • Hi Philippe,

This is for sure an improvement, but still, I have the impression that the choir samples ave been recorded in a very different way (to my ears, they seem to be in another acoustic location). The orchestra is as usual very clear and crisp, the choir however seems distant and with a different convolution reverb. The textual quality has improved but that is, as I've understood, not the main issue yet.

The orchestra and the music are simply divine! I'm pretty sure that you will eventually figure out a way to make the choir match with the choir.
