Is it possible to keep my Master computer, which hosts my DAW, running Win XP, while my slave computer runs Win 7 and hosts VEPro5? Will the server run on XP?
Or do I need to upgrade my Daw/WIN XP Computer to Win7?

Win XP on Master/Win7 on slave?

Updating you on my efforts... I successfully loaded the VEP5 Standalone and Servers on my Slave computer and loaded VEP5 / 32 bit VST's onto my Main DAW / Win XP machine. I'm using RML Labs SAWStudio as my DAW. I was able to successfully open a VST instance of the standalone Server on my XP machine and was able to achieve a connection between the Win XP Host machine and the Win 7 Slave. I was able to get VEP on the Slave Computer to load and play the Epic Orchestra samples. Sounds incredible! Ran out of time last night to try to patch in any audio or Midi content between the 2 machines but I'll update the Forum when I do. I was downloading EZDrummer2 onto the Win7 machine this morning as that is my main use for the Slave.

Update...not having success with Vienna Ensemble Pro. So far..this is what I have: I can open up a server on my Win 7 Slave Machine. I can start my DAW on my XP machine and insert an instance of the Vienna Pro VST on a track. The 2 servers see each other and connect. On my Slave machine I can start an instance of the Epic Orchestra but when I click on the Epic Keyboard ....the screen seems to be frozen. There is no ability to route Audio anywhere. However...I can open up the VEP Standalone on my Slave and I can play sounds on the Epic application. But still no audio on my DAW computer....even though the servers are seeing each other. Should you not be able to Route Audio using just the Server application? Why is the server application freezing? Is it the particular DAW application that's not allowing audio to pass? Seems strange as I can use all sorts of plugins and VST's in my DAW to get audio into my system Any thoughts? Anyone????

I'm glad to report..I have it RESOLVED!!! I now have Audio being successfully transferred via Ethernet into my Main DAW computer and the DAW / RML Labs SAWStudioLite is receiving the audio in both a stereo feed and in a Multi-Channel configuration. to recap: The Slave machine is a Win7 machine running Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 and I used it to host Toontrack's EZDrummer 2. The Main DAW Machine is a computer running Win XP Pro3. I should note that I tested this out on a separate Laptop running Win 8.0 as well. Once I figured out how to get it working in Win 8.0 I duplicated it in the XP machine and all is well. It would appear that I did not engage the Vienna Server Engine and my DAW's engine at the same time. Once that was done I could stop and start the EZDrummer Sequencer on the Slave machine via my main DAW. So....VEP5 in a Server configuration does indeed work on an XP machine. I have yet to get a MIDI connection between the 2 machines but I suspect that that has more to due with the way SAWStudio configures it's Midi inputs. I'm going to have to experiment with running a 3rd party Host on my DAW machine in order to "see" the incoming Midi channel and direct it to SAWStudio's Midi Player/ recorder. Thanks for the Response from the Vienna Ensemble Tech team.I'm very happy that the Server is working as expected!
