  • Expressions for SE Strings

Hi, I have purchased: Special Edition Vol. 1 Strings; Special Edition Vol. 1 PLUS Strings; Special Edition Vol. 2 Strings. My question is this: when I use the expression map of Violins, Viola and Celli, and choose "Arco" expressions, which patch is interested in the sample matrix? thanks Lucio

  • Off of the top of my head I don't remember, but you can tell by watching VI while your score plays, and see which patch is played.

I use: MATRIX :Special Edition Orchestral strings /21S Strings violins + Expression Map: VSL SE - Violins, Violas, Celli. When I set "ARCO" expression into Cubase the patch played in VI PRO is "SUS" ?? In the configuration map (into CUBASE) I see that in this expression map screen the "ARCO", it is not assigned to any key!? thanks for help Lucio

  • Hello Lucio!

The "arco" articulation is mainly ment for switching back from pizzicato to the default arco articulation, which is sustain (keyswitch D1 (Cubase D0), CC1 value 0). The Remote Key D1 (Cubase D0) is mapped to the sustain articulation and will also work.

    Best regards,
    Andi

If I understand correctly, it is correct if it is set to ARCO, the matrix goes on SUS ...? and then: I have Appassionata Strings Vol.1 (standard and extended libraries) I have tried to load the expression map "VSL SE - Appassionata Vi, Va, Vc" for Appassionata Violins, but into Cubase I only have four articolations: STACCATO, STACCATISSIMO, ACCENT, SFORZATO. How can I retrieve the other articolations present into the Appassionata 01_basic patch? (for ex: pLeg,rLe,sfz,rSpi,rHar etc)? thanks Lucio

  • Yes, it's correct that the sustain patch gets selected when you choose the arco articulation.

You have loaded the Special Edition Expression Map for the Appassionata Strings. For the Appassionata Strings Instrument collection please use the Expression Maps made for the Strings Instrument collections and the VI presets that are included. They can be downloaded here:

I have done this as I purchased the Appasionata Strings I full library: - I downloaded Expression Maps Strings, v.1.1 and Presets; - I set in cubase the VSL Strings - Violins, Violas, Celli.expressionmap; - select in VE Pro the preset AS I - extended - AS_Violins_L2.fxp .. ... Is it correct? sorry for my questions! ;-( thanks in advance Lucio

  • Yes, that's correct. [Y]
