  • Student Dicount - Why not extend the discount to those who are self teaching themselves?

Why not extend the discount to those who are self teaching themselves? I can see myself really taking advantage of this, but I am not enrolled in any music university/school... There is no chance I am willing to pay full price.

  • Because then they might as well just turn it into a coupon for everybody to use.  Anybody could just say "Hey I'm self-taught!"  The whole point IS to give a discount to people enrolled in school and spending a lot of money already.

As for paying full-price, if you're in the US, I'd suggest looking at places like Audiodeluxe who usually have very good prices for VSL products.  Also the products are more than worth the investment!

  • Thank you. I agree that VSL is a gem of a product, and I get great joy everytime I use it. I am still learning the product, but I haven't made a single penny thus far. Fyi, I have already spent close to $10k on VSL -- each time buying when they have discounts. I just wish they rewarded us more for those who paid so much for the product. [:)] I will still wait. Even if it means this may be until Christmans time...

  • Yeah, there isn't much of a loyalty discount, but to be fair I don't think there really is with other companies either.

  • Although some companies provide permanent educational discounts -- some are pretty drastic: you pay $99 for a product (realflow) that costs $3000 (so long it's for learning purposes, and no student id is required).

  • I, for one, find it a bit bizzare that someone who is willing - and able - to spend §10k on products they don't use professionally/to generate income, and regularly take advantage of discounts, would feel that they are in need/deserve to be relieved of costs. [8-)]

  • lol [:D] I am certainly not rich by any means -- maybe I have a good day job, but I gladly paid this much because I believe in the product and my vision! Maybe I need these discounts now because I am close to being broke... [:P] Now that I think about it, with the discounts, I saved close to $3000... Not bad. That's why I don't like paying regular price -- I'm already spoiled!

  • Is there actually anything left from VSL you don't have, anyway? [:D]

  •  haha Yeap! I'd love to get my hands MIR Pro, Roompack Bundle, Woodwinds II, single instruments like Concert Guitar, Upright Bass, Electric Guitar (Overdrive), and to jazz things up, maybe some Jazz drums. Then I will be in heaven! [:D] Since I have complete percussion, I am not convinced of Jazz drums though.

  • I really, really enjoy the upright, it's one of my favorite libraries by VSL. I also just recently watched some videos on the Jazz Drums. Honestly, I'm shocked that these aren't being talked about a lot more. I guess they're kind of flying under the radar a bit because a lot of people probably don't expect a drum kit from an orchestra-centric company like VSL. But really, I'm strongly tempted to pull the plug on these. It might be the most impressive example of drum sampling I've seen/heard so far.

  • I had the same thought about Jazz drums. Amazed they are kind of under the radar for what they are.
