    Hi Dietz

    Hope you are well. In MIR Pro (inside VEPro) I have my wet/dry sounds routed out different busses. I have a question about the difference between changing wet/dry ratios inside MIR Pro, as opposed to simply reducing the send to the wet bus. I know I can hear a difference in sound, I'm just not quite sure what it is. If I open up the MIRPro GUI and change the wet/dry ratio to more dry I can hear the dry instrument get slightly louder. It even appears slightly more "close" and the timbre changes (I seem to hear more of the low end). However if I simply reduce the level of the wet send bus, the volume/timbre stays more or less the same, I just no longer hear the wet signal. Can you offer some clarification here about what the difference is under the hood/conceptually?

    Hi there,

    your ears don't fool you: The Dry/Wet-control of a MIR Pro Icon determins a _ratio_ between those two signal components, which means that the direct signal part will indeed get louder as the wet part gets softer.

    When you route the wet signals to dedicated busses, your dry signal levels won't change when you adjust the volume of the "wet"-bus. (... the busses don't "know" about the MIR Icons.)

    Both approaches have there benefits, so it's up to you to decided what fits your needs better in general, or case-by-case.

    Ah OK! I think I would go with reducing the wet send to the bus becuase if I switch venues with MIRx I can leave your ratios where they are and then just automate the send in Cubase on an as-needed basis. I just have to remember that in order to mimic the effect I also need to raise the level.

    This is a pertfectly valid approach. Just be aware that the dry level will change depending on the distance if an Icon from the Main Microphone as long as you haven't  switched off the "Distance Dependent Scaling" in the Global Dry Volume Handling section. It is very likely that these distances will change when switching Venues due to the different geometries of the individual halls and stages.
