  • Logic VEP Audio Input Plugin and VEP+MIR PRO on Slave

    Hi,

I'm trying to route 12 instrument tracks using the VEP Audio Input Plugin from Logic 9 to VEP5 (on my Slave PC) in order to place them in a MIR room. I have one software instrument for the VEP connection and am using AUX tracks for the remaining 11 audio returns from VEP in Logic, so every Audio Input returns on a seperate retun track.

In doing so I am confronted with all sorts of strange problems. Often I will not get any audio on the return channel at all - sometimes it'll come back if I click on the respective return track in Logic. Sometimes it will sound all messed up, digitally crushed and noisy or chopped. In a blank session I will get midi and audio synchronization errors... And it is generally putting a high work load on my master (Mac Pro 5,1). The idea was to not put that much work load on my master computer by using MIR on the Slave...

I was wondering whether this is normal, maybe it's not intended to be used like that?

  • Thanks for the hint Paul. I have tried that now (shame on me, I didn't know that). Unfortunately I still have the same problems. I've even tried connecting to VEP on my master machine to make sure it's not some kind of networking problem, but I am still ending up with the same thing.

  • Hi Tina,

Another question: Does this also happen with less audio channels? Did you try different buffer settings and thread settings in VE PRO yet?

If that doesn´t help, please send the Logic file (without audio data) as a zip file to , we´ll take a look asap.  Include a short reference to this thread.

  • Hi Paul,

I'll send you a logic file to take a closer look.

BTW: There is no way to connect to a standalone MIR on a slave via LAN, right? I managed to basically create the same setup using just the MIR plugin in Logic and it's working just fine, but of course that means the MIR ist running on my master computer, something I would like to prevent to save cpu power for the master machine and because I wouldn't want to buy a second MIR and another roompack for the master....
