Hi. Interesting to see all the talk after Beats post about Dimension Strings.
I've worked a lot with DS and keep refining the way I use them, but I keep experimenting. And I don't mind sharing a session. Maybe others would like to as well in this thread.
I have a very specific type of workflow that include an iPad for articulations and all my matrixes. With that I use NoteExpression. So it's a rather clean layout. The piece I'm sharing is a transcription I did (the first 1:10 minutes) from the soundtrack: There Will Be Blood - Future Markets by Jonny Greenwood.
I first did the transcription, then imported the MIDI in Cubase, added articulations and timings. The only thing left for this session would be giving individual velocity curves. All players have different tracks and timings. I did try a lot of things in the mix cause I tried to emulate the sound of the original recording (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9lS9dOaiWw). After 2 hours I gave up and left it where it is now. Also cause I realized I would have to do some volume automations and change a few articulations, which felt like to much work. Here's the demo: http://ankarfeldt.dk/VSL%20demoes/VSL%20demo%20-%20There%20Will%20Be%20Blood%20-%20Future%20Markets.mp3
You can get a zip with the: Cubase, mp3, midi file and the score in pdf from here: http://ankarfeldt.dk/ankarfeldt.dk/VSL%20demoes/There%20will%20be%20blood%20-%20Future%20Markets.zip .
Let me know if something is not working for you. You'll need a rather powerful computer, but you can always max the buffer for MIR and in Cubase. Best
