  • Bosendorfer, Sibelius and MirX

    Hello Andi,

A couple of questions about the Bosendorfer Imperial.

    1. Are there any additional commands needed to trigger the piano samples, other than pedal lines? Is there a command for 'una corda' samples if the BI has these?

    2. I have the close mike preset loaded in ch2 of VIPro and the distant mike loaded in Ch3. Both are assigned to play through Ch1 as I am using both sounds at once, with less of the close mike sound - is that correct usage / setup?

    3. If I turn MirX on the close mike preset brings up a reverb setting 'Bosendorfer distant', and the distant mike preset brings up 'Bosendorfer close'. This doesn't make sense to me. Can you explain what is happening? Shouldn't they be the other way round?

    Thanks.

  • Hello Oceanview!

Here are the answers to your questions.

1.) In order to change to the Una corda matrix, please send the according keyswitch (G#-1). The Technique Text command in Sibelius should look like this: "~N8,10" (without quotation marks). To switch back send the keyswitch G-1 ("~N7,10"). Other than that and the pedal lines, there are no more commands needed. Of course dynamic marks and hairpins will also work.

2.) I personally would only use one of them, but if it sounds good to you, you can of course use both at the same time the way you have described.

3.) I can't reproduce this behaviour here. The "Close Mic" preset brings up the "close" profile and the "Distant Mic" preset brings up the "distand" profile. Please make sure that you have the latest versions of the Vienna Instruments and Vienna Instruments Pro software, as well as the latest version of your MIRx stage(s) installed.
