Violins load with VI Algo verb on by default; basses load with it off by default. ?
ETA: Now violins are loading with Algo off, but other times I'm sure they've loaded with it on.

so sometimes Dimension violins load with algo verb on, and sometimes off, and sometimes Dimension basses load with algo verb on, and sometimes off. Maybe it's on in all the Dimension Presets, and everyone else figured this out from the reference to reverb on page 29 of the Dimension strings manual.
Sorry, I can't reproduce this here. I've loaded dozens of violins and bass presets and all presets are loaded with algo reverb on. Maybe you can post a preset name where this problem is repdroduceable.
Two suggestions (questions):
Are you sure you don't mix up Presets with Matrices. If you load a Matrix into an empty Preset no reverb settings are applied, so it depends which "reverb status" your empty preset is set to.
And if you load a preset into VE PRO / MIR setup (where MIR is active, any reverb settings inside VI PRO are siwtched OFF automatically, simply to avoid erroneously activated reverbs. By the way, this behaviour can be customised in MIR preferences.

It's looking like there's no malfunction, and this was just a matter of my not realizing which factors determine whether the algo reverb defaults to On. Sometimes I was loading Matrices, but other times I was loading Presets; sometimes I was loading Presets in VE with MIR, but other times I was loading Presets in my DAW outside VE. I think I understand how it works now. Thanks for checking, and sorry for the confusion.
