  • Notating VSL SE percussion in Sibelius

    Hi,

The VE Optimising Sibelius Playback v2.5 says

"The list of all included instruments and articulations is too long to be covered here, as this is the most complex sound set of all. You will find this list in a separate manual."

but it doesn't say what that manual is, or where to find it, or what technique words to use within Sibelius (7) to get the various effects (I presume you need the VSL house style).  Where do I need to look?  For example, how do I get a snare drum "flam" sound?

    Thanks in advance

    Charles

  • Hello Charles!

The manual for the "VE Percussion" sound set comes with the VSL Soundset Installer and gets installed in your Applications folder (Mac) or Programs menu (Windows) under "VSL Sibelius Soundsets".

Please notice that this manual is only for our Percussion and Elements Instrument Collections and Single Instruments, which you don't have registered. How to use the percussion sounds that are included in the Special Edition Vol. 1 with Sibelius is explained in the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual, pages 8-9.

Flams are not included in the Special Edition. Anyway, to get a flam like sound, simply write a flam.

    Best regards,
    Andi
