  • Mixing with different instances of Vienna Instruments Pro vs All instruments in one instance of...

I was wondering, if I have strings playing where each string instrument (violins/violas/cellos/double bass) are in there own separate instance of VI PRO versus all string instruments reside in a single instance of VI PRO, is there a difference between the two if I don't modify anything in regards to the sound? I was wondering if VI PRO does anything internally to blend the instruments more naturally and better compared to if each instance resided in a separate instance.

    Thank you!

  • Hello nektarios,

There is no internal magic going on in VI PRO, if all instruments are loaded in one instance of VI PRO, the Humanize feature is available for each cell (every player) separately of course.

The main advantages of having each player in one separate VI PRO instance:

    1) Easier to create divisi when needed.

    2) More flexible placement (e.g., in MIR PRO)

  • Thank you Paul! What about if each VI PRO instance is routed to it's MIRx reverb? Are all instruments treated as being in one space for the reverb (even though there are separate instances of VI PRO)?

  • Hi,

Yes, that´s what MIRx and MIR PRO is all about, putting instruments in the same space.
