Staccato mark sometimes triggers tremolo

I am having an odd, erratic problem with string staccatos. I using Sibelius 7.5 with Vienna Ensemble Pro, Vienna Special Edition Plus, and OS X Mavericks. On the whole everything is working spectacularly well. 

But when I write a series of string staccatos that change note values (some 16th notes and some 8ths), this sometimes triggers tremolos on some notes, particularly the 8ths. This does not happen all the time, but seems more prone to happen when staccato 8ths follow staccato 16ths. In another case you were able to solve an articulation problem with accents by suggesting I change the setting on a single controller (SlotX). Hope you have a suggestion here.

Hello Randall!

Please make sure to use the latest version of the "VE Sopecial Edition PLUS" sound set. It gets installed with the VSL Soundset Installer.

It can have different reasons why articulations do not change as supposed. However, the problem you have described is rather uncommon. Could it be that you have a tremolo command earlier in your score and didn't reset it with an "ord." or "normal" command?

If this isn't the case I recommend checking the Troubleshooting section of the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual. Maybe you can find a solution there.

I have discovered two work-around solutions. (None of the troubleshooting suggestions worked.) The switch to repeated-staccato bowing is occasionally triggered by rests that occur in the middle of a long passage of notes marked by staccato dots. One solution is to insert "~stacc" above the rest itself. This solves the problem locally. No other marking had any effect, such as ord. or norm., whether placed on the rest or the subsequent staccato note. The other solution was to remove the staccato dots after the first few measures, and write "sempre staccato" (or abbreviation), in which case the passage also played correctly.

A weird phenomenon, which occurs very seldom. I may continue searching for a cause, but at least I have a couple of work-arounds to solve my immediate issues.
