  • DS solo violin perf_rep patch puzzling duration problems

I spoke to a couple of tech-help guys at Ilio and was finally told to uncheck 35 bit mode which helped a great deal with most of my logic 9 files. But when I first open a certain short DS file which has 5 DS tracks and 15 tracks all together all assigned to mostly SE VSL tracks something strange happens in the solo player 1 track. The eighth notes are passable but the dotted half is chocked off, at least at first try. Later tries are more successful. (I use modulation for the portamentos.)

Incidentally, I am using an SE patch for the basses because of the still incomplete DS articulations.

  • I have a feeling that you have a problem with disk streaming for samples starts...

1-Are you using the iMac's internal hard drive for everything or you have external drives for your samples?

2-What kind of Hard Drive you are using for the VSL data. What Speed? (HD 7200, HD 5400, SSD or Fusion Drive)

3- What is the preload size in the Directory manager app for DS? (make it default or greater if you are not using SSD)

4-What is the I/O Buffer Size setting in Logic Audio Preference?

  • Called Ilio again but not sure I can send the file to them as Eric requested because of its size (1.9 MB I think).

    To answer the questions:

1 and 2. I've changed my information to show that I'm running a Glyph Drive GPT50 and all my samples are on that.

    3. Don't have that information right now.

    .4. 1040.

    Thanks Fred.

  • I assume that your Glyph is connected via firewire 800 and not USB2. Just to be sure...

You could raise the preload buffer to the max in Vienna instruments audio engine Settings (or in the directory manager).

But I'm not sure if you can do this if you don't run the Vienna instrument PRO.
