  • MIR Venues Occasionally Refusing To Load

    Hi there,

I've been steadily working away using MIR for over a year now, but found a few days ago that one instance in a project refused to load properly.

I opened up the Cubase project and opened the VEP instance as normal, but after a while MIR said its loading was only 10% done. I looked back a short while later and it said 90%, but it never advanced higher, and the loading icon in the top left corner of the MIR venue window did not go away. I put it down to some oddity involving the Steinhofkirche and its huge reverbs, but I installed the latest version of VEP just in case.

Everything was fine for a while, but it's just happened again, this time with ORF Studio 2 in a different project. In the end MIR will freeze and the program crash box appears, or I have to finish it early with the task manager. I've tried closing and reopening both MIR and Cubase, and this doesn't seem to change it, and as I said, I'm running the latest version.

Just to be clear, it's the MIR venue that's refusing to load, not the VI samples within.

Any thoughts on what might be going wrong?

    Many thanks,

    Pyre

  • Thinking about it, should the above post instead be in the Ensemble thread? It seems to me the problem is more a MIR one than an Ensemble one, but I'm not sure how you'd classify it technically...

    Thanks!

  • Hi Pyre,

are you still running into this? Are there any crash-logs you could send to ? It's hard to say from the distance what's going on without any cues ...

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Dietz,

Sorry for the delayed reply. I've been talking with Florian about it, and I was in the process of installing things again when my SSD completely died. It's taken me this long to get another one (warranty replacements are a slow process), and I've just got VSL installed again. So far, no sign of the problem, I will get back in touch if it arises again.

Something different has gone slightly wrong, though - VEP is slow and sluggish to respond, and the icons and meters stick and don't display properly in realtime, but this only happens on the MIR tab. As soon as I go to the mixer tab or the instrument tab, all the meters on the channel strips are working fine and responding completely as normal.

I thought I'd try uninstalling MIR and VEP and installing them again, I'll report back when I've done that.

    Thanks for your help,

    Pyre

  • ...Having uninstalled VEP and MIR and then installed them again, the problem remains - it goes jittery on the MIR tab of VEP, but is fine otherwise.

Any thoughts on what might be causing that?

    Many thanks,
