Brass matrices with Sibelius

Hi Andi,  

I want to use the brass and woodwind sound set in Sibelius with my full single brass instruments.  Which of the presets or matrices that come with the instruments are configured to work with this soundset?  I have the full Trumpet in C, Piccolo Trumpet & Triple Horn.

Hello Andy!

In order to use the Woodwinds & Brass Single instruments with Sibelius, please use the VI Presets that come with the VSL Soundset Installer.

These presets can be loaded under PRESET/Sibelius/Woodwinds+Brass 2.0/- Single Instruments

Hi Andi,

Thank you.  I have all my VSL instruments on a different Mac than the one that I run Sibelius on and as Sibelius is not installed on my Slave computer I can't install these files.  I do have VIPro installed on my Main Mac.  If I do install them on my main Mac, can I manually copy the VI presets into the appropriate folder on my Slave?  Not sure of the file path or whether that is even possible...I haven't been able to locate the VIPro prests folder so far!

Hello Andy!

If you have Sibelius and your Vienna Instruments on different computers, simply run the VSL Soundset Installer on both computers. Then you will have the Sound Sets and the "Vienna Symphonic Library" House Style on your computer with Sibelius and the VI presets on your computer with the Vienna Instruments.

Only our Dimension Brass and Dimension Strings Instrument collections have VI Pro presets for Sibelius. For the other instruments, please use the normal VI presets for Sibelius. Also with these presets you can use the benefits of VI Pro.

Hi Andy!

I'm not sure whether I'm missing something but when I try and install the soundsets on my slave computer I get this message: 'VSL Sibelius Soundsets can't be installed on this disk.  Sibelius 5, 6 or 7 is required for installing this software.'  This is where my problem is...I guess I can install Sibelius on my Slave, swap the Sibelius authorization temporarily (if I need to) while I install the soundsets and then swap the Sibelius authorization back to my main computer. 

Is there another way to install the VI Presets without using this Sibelius Soundsets installer?  I guess what I need is an installer for the Sibelius VI presets only?  I think I can use the workaround outlined above.

I see. You can copy the content of the VSL Custom Data folder from one computer to the other. The VI Presets for Sibelius are stored there. The location of the VSL Custom Data folder can be set up (or looked up) in the Directory Manager.
