  • Running VE Pro 5 with Finale 2012

I need someone to give me step by step instructions for setting up VE Pro 5 with Finale 2012. I use an iMac with 8 gigs of RAM. I guess the real problem is that when I insert the VE Pro plug in nothing comes up like it did with the lower VE. Is there something I'm missing? Also, the 27.0.0.1 localhost [32] or 127.0.0.1 localhost [64] will not show up

  • Hello Illuminatus!

Did you start Vienna Ensemble Pro Server before trying to connect? Vienna Ensemble Pro Server can be found in your Applications folder. Everything else works just like with the normal Vienna Ensemble.

  • Cool man, thanks! It runs like a swiss watch now. However, I have one final question. How would I construct the ensemble on VE Pro 5 if I have 17 differents playing. 4 of them will be VI Pro channels and the rest are just Instruments. What imputs should I have (and where) and what should I set up? Do I just add all 17 on the same plug-in then use an input for the last one?

  • You can use the Vienna Ensemble Pro Event Input in the second Finale instrument slot to trigger 16 more channels on MIDI Port 2 (and 3, ...). In this case you will have to define the MIDI ports for all instruments in VE Pro. More details about the VE Pro Event Input can be found in the VE Pro manual.

  • A slight problem,

I have the extra MIDI port defined but one of the VI Pro channels is not responding. Everything else is working just fine thought with the exception of that one channel.

  • Never mind, I found the problem thanks to my cousin who also owns this stuff. Apparently the reason why one of the channels was not playing was because I had to go under Score Manager in Finale and rewire the channels so they are all in consecutive order without one skipping the other.
