  • How to move libraries from external HD to C: ?

I'm not clear on the statement in my VSL Directory Manager: "..You may move the volume files across the drives, but every time you do so you will need to run this utility again and correct the paths." What utility? What is it called? Where is it? Is it the tab "Rescan existing"? I intend to substitute an SSD HD as my C drive, and would like to place the library (the actual samples) in it, rather than on a slower external HD. Is this OK? Will this improve performance? Thanks - Bernard

    Hello Bernard,

The utility is called "Directory Manager" and is installed with Vienna Instruments.

Here is a video that shows how to use the Directory Manager.

SSD drives will give you better streaming performance. In your case, you are using the "normal" Vienna Instruments.

You´d get up to 10x faster loading times if you use Vienna Instruments PRO (click "try" to get a demo license).

    Best,

    Paul

  • Your PC must have a SATA III ports

It's not a good idea to put your system and your lib on the same drive

Buy a small ssd to put your system and 1 or 2 bigger one for your VSL lib (if you need 512 GB you buy 2 x 256 and make it into a Raid 0)
