  • VI loading and/or streaming

Basic question here guys.  Do VIs load into memory or do they stream from the disk? EIther way, is theere any virtue in going to SSDs?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Both. There is a pre-load which puts a small part of the sample into memory, and the rest streams from disc.

There are three advantages to SSD:

    1. Samples load faster
    2. You can stream more "voices" per drive
    3. You can reduce the pre-load buffer (using VI Pro) and therefore use less RAM, which makes loading even quicker.
