  • SE Vol.1 Bosendorfer

It's only my impression or the Bosendorfer content in Special Edition Vol.1 sound muffled and a bit "flangered"?

  • It is 20MB extract of full library, what did you expect? [:)]

  • Only 20mb?? oh... I was expecting a little more[:(]

  • If you are looking for a good solo piano, or one that sounds well in a small ensemble, you might want to get the Bosendorfer Imperial. It sounds great and is only 95 Euros. I use it ever day and its fantastic.

Yeah I second that.  It's a good product.  However, I wouldn't mind a few more velocity layers as an update.  I'd be more than willing to pay for that update too[:D]

I think the Bosendorfer in the SE only has like three velocity layers.  In that state, it should be used as accompaniment for larger works.  Don't try doing solo virtuoso stuff.

  • The only thing that stopped me to buy the Bosendorfer at 95 euros was the limited (3) velocity...

  • Check the product description, it has 7 velocity layers, and the sustain pedal down notes sound wonderful. Also, it's a lot cheaper than the Vienna Imperial. I'm able to to run it along with several other instruments from the SE with no problems on an almost 5 year old MacBook Pro with an external hard drive and 4 GB ram.

Check out the audio demos to get a good idea of how it sounds, they are very accurate. I do run mine through an eq patch from the Vienna Suite as well as adding some reverb to it.  You probably already have a reverb plug-in you can use, so you won't need to buy anything else to get it to sound completely professional.

if you are looking for a "classical concert grand piano" sound, with realistic sustain pedal, and sampled closed mic (i.e. if you were sitting in front of the piano) and distant mic (i.e. sitting in the audience of a concert hall) than I'd certainly consider picking it up, especially because it blends perfectly with the other VSL libraries. (Just my opinion, if you buy something else I won't be offended!)

    Yannick,

In case you haven't discovered it yet, the successor of the Boesendorfer Imperial, our Vienna Imperial, features up to 100 velocities... and much more.

    Best,

    Stefan 😊

  • Thank to all. I know the Vienna Imperial but is too expensive for me. I will check the Bosendorfer one day in the future. Thank you very much
