I'm told to use the same channel for assigning my VSL instruments with the ones I've assigned in the Finale instruments list. Where do I find channels listed in VSL?

You'll want to use Vienna Ensemble to host you instruments. The channel settings for each instrument apear in the column on the left of the screen.
