  • host vst inside mir pro 24

hey guys, I'm exploring the big world of vsl for some time and i am trying to find the right combination for me. i already own kontakt 4 which has al little part of the vsl instrument libraries. since vienna ensemble pro is capable of hosting other vst's such as kontakt and the fact that mir pro is capable of integrating vienna ensemble in it. i was wondering if it is possible that i can put some of my kontakt instruments inside of the room with mir pro 24. i hope you guys know what i mean. excuse me for any typing mistakes since English is not my language of birth. i am considering of buying the se complete bundle, but if the above is possible i think i will spend more money on articulations since kontakt already has alot of the basic orchestral instruments. greetings Marcel.

  • Yes you can put Kontakt Instruments into MIR PRO 24.

  • thanks for your reply! a few minutes before your reply i indeed have read the same one the steinberg site. is there a benefit of having instruments pro 2 player, if you buy ensemble pro 5 and mir pro 24? thnx again!

  • For you, there is no benefit (and in fact you can't even use it) for VI Pro Player if you are not using the new and updated VSL Instruments.  The instruments you have are the reduced patches etc. made for Kontakt Player.  You can't even use the VI Pro player with those.

But if you ever do buy VSL instruments from either them directly or a reseller then yes, VI Pro has enormous benefits.  There are videos that give exactly the reasons why.

The benefits for owning VE PRO 5 mated with MIR are so many that I can't possibly list them.  My favorite though are Channel Sets and the memory/resource management of VE PRO 5 is superb.

  • If you are using VSL libraries, there is certainly a benefit to VIP2 per se. 'only updated instruments', I'm not sure of that remark, although it may simply mean you have to have Vienna Instruments versions of VSL rather than Kontakt. Through itself, there are things that will apply to VSL libraries. It is a proprietary, VSL-only engine however.

Yes that is exactly what I am saying 😊 when I say up to date/current.

    1.  Kontakt  VSL instruments - older versions, free with komplete etc.  You CANNOT use VI PRO with these.  If you are loading any VSL instruments within Kontakt, they you will know, they are not supported.

    2.  GigaStudio VSL Instruments - older versions, not free, outdated and not supported anymore - You CANNOT use VI PRO with these.  If you are using Gigastudio, G-Player etc. and loading VSL instruments, they are not supported.

    3.  VSL Instruments that are "up to date" as of right now this minute you can buy them from VSL themselves, on this website, or a vendor which use the VI Instruments Player.  - You CAN use VI PRO for these isntruments.

So no there is no benefit from using "VSL Libraries" with VI PRO if they aren't supported formats because you can't even load them in it.

    Hope that helps,

  • all you guys thanks for all your replys. let me maken clear that i understand that to benifit the pro player you have to use the new vsl instruments. let me make clear taht i am planning on buyng some of them. my quetion was. if you have ensemble pro 5 and mir pro 24. does the pro player also has benifits. or is buying the three all at ones noncense??? Firts i wanted to buy the se complete bundle. but i sa that allot of what was in there i already have inside my kontakt library. what i really wanted was to use mir pro24. so i thought why not use some instruments of kontakt inside mir pro 24. and some (say dimension strings and brass) also on mir pro 24. that way i will have more articulations of the ones i like the most. and can later add extentions and intruments of the ones i already have inside of kontakt but of which i am not satisfied anymore.

  • Welcome Marcel,

thanks for your interest in our products.

The VSL-based patches which come with Kontakt offer only a  fraction of the samples provided with the Special Editions, let alone the full instruments. Apart from the raw number of samples Vienna Instruments benefit a lot from the features of their dedictated player software, Vienna Instruments. Even more built-in intelligence and flexibility is available with Vienna Instruments Pro.

Vienna Ensemble (VE) is a great host for Vienna Instruments, while Vienna Ensemble Pro will happily host 3rd-party instruments, too. What's more, VE Pro is also able to work with any kind of audio signal you want (like vocal tracks, live instruments and so on).

MIR Pro (and its smaller sister MIR Pro 24) will unfold their full potential when used for processing Vienna Instruments within Vienna Ensemble Pro, but you don't _have_ to use either of the two. MIR Pro will also work as a plug-in inside your DAW, processing any kind of input signal. Just be aware that quite a few of the finer details and interactions are anly available within the range of VSL products. - This is not because we're greedy, but due to the fact that we can't control 3rd-party instruments or audio signals with the same finesse as we do with our own software, for obvious reasons.

I short: Depending on your needs, it might make much sense to make a huge step forwards and get all the Pro-series software of VSL, but each single item makes sense on its own, too.

    HTH,
