  • Expression maps in Cubase and VSL : what to do ?

    Hello everybody

I'm trying to use expression maps for Appassionata strings in cubase 7.5.
I have loaded the right expression maps found on Cubase site (folder containing AS_Violins_L1.fxp, etc.), with the VSL notice "VST_Expression_Maps_for_VSL_String_Collections.pdf"

Solution 1: "You can add VST Expression Maps to existing projects by opening the VST Expression Map editor,
then importing the desired map(s) - left column...".
-> No, I can't, because Cubase seems to work only with xxxx.expressionmap and not with xxx.fxp.

"IMPORTANT: To load the Vienna Instruments VST Expression Presets, move them to your VSL
Custom Data folder. This way they will show up in your Vienna Instruments Interface."
-> Where is this "custom data folder" ? I tried to move the folder to AppData/Roaming/VSL without any success.

Maybe the topic has been discussed somewhere else. I must admit I feel stupid, reading and re-reading theCubase Operation Manual and not getting this to work. But I know this forum is the place to find very helpful people [:)]

    Thank you everybody
    Chris

  • Hello Chris!

You can set up (or look up) the location of the custom folder in the Directory Manager. The VI presets (fxp files) have to be copied to this folder.

The downloaded zip file also contains the .expressionmap files you have to load with Cubase.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Thanks a lot, Andi !

Right on both points. I've found the VSL xxx.expressionmap, and the Directory Manager [:)]
I feel less stupid right now !!

    Best regards
    Chris
