  • VSL MIR: Recording from multiple room setups?

    Hello,

Sitting on the train home from work I came to think what a setup including multiple room setups would be like with VSL MIR? I did a quick search and couldn't find any real answer or clue to if this is even something that one would consider? I was thinking several Teldex instances, one for strings, and one for brass etc. maybe an instance of Studio Weiler for the Piano to be recorded in. Has anyone tried this? Does it make any difference?

The reason I toungt would be to get more flexible in mixing, differnt mic positions, mic bleeding etc.

Thus far I've only been using one instance where I've put all my instruments into the same room, to get a live feel. But as many studio recordings, score productions etc. record sections separate to each other (mostly because of logistics I thought). Would it be recommended to do the same with VSL if you want to achieve that studio recording feel?

  • Hi Jhonny,

MIR was actually created with one main task in mind: To bring all instruments of an orchestra _together_ in one hall. :-) That's why there is no straight-forward way to use multiple Venues, although I completely understand that there are situations / styles where this might be desirable.

At the moment, the only way to achieve this is to open several instances of VE Pro, which can then host independent instances of MIR Pro. This is _not_ possible when using MIR Pro as a plug-in, though.
