  • Panning in Pro Tools

    Hello everyone,

    happy New Year to everyone.

I`ve got a question concerning working with VSL audio files in Pro Tools. I programmed orchestral strings for a piece of pop music in Logic. After finishing I bounced the files and exported them to Pro Tools. At first I tried to convert the tracks to mono to make it easier to mix. But by doing that I lost too much audio information.

How do you mix and pan your orchestral tracks in Pro Tools? Do you need something like a direction mixer? Or does it suffice to use the pan pots of the stereo tracks in Pro Tools? Please note that I don`t want to use MIDI in Pro Tools.

Thank you for your answers in adance,

    Martin Hecker

  • Unless I'm misunderstanding your question, I think most users mix Vienna within the various Vienna sample hosting software options ie. Vienna Ensemble or Vienna Pro, Instruments, etc. There is no panning within your DAW, Pro Tools or otherwise.
