  • VSL Poster Shows Double Bassoon

    Hi,

first of all let me make you a compliment. Yesterday I bought 15 new Instruments. And they sound just beautiful.

(A tip for everybody wo seeks for a strong "Moog-like" Deep Brass ... buy the Cimbasso!)

The Double Bassoon ... is it contained in the Ensemble or is it Bassoon 2?

    Greetings Lars

    Hi Lars

If you mean "Contra Bassoon" with "Double Bassoon" you will find it within Woodwinds II.

Bassoon 2 is a "normal" other Bassoon than Bassoon 1. We also got 2 Flutes, English Horns, ...

    Hope that helps

All the best - also for 2014😉

  • Hallo Beat,

  • Hello Lars

    Thanks for answering in German.

Because of the forum's language is "English" I write back in English (as good as I can...).

You seem to be right. The Double Bassoon looks like the one here: http://www.gustav-mollenhauer.de/Kontrafagottgesamt.html - a German website - specially for you ;-)

So Double Bassoon = Contra Bassoon.

BTW: I also do not own Bassoon 2. I heard that it has shorter staccatos. The ones with Bassoon 1 are a bit long and weak.

    All the best
