  • Notion 4 + Vienna Appasionata Strings

Hello and merry christmas to all of you! I have one question about Notion. Is there any possibility to adjust Vienna Appasionata I and II (Appassionata Strings Bundle , Standard) to Notion 4? I would like to do this, but Notion doesn't have this sounds sets, only for Vienna Special Editions. Could somebody help me? Is there any solution, or was there a similar topic before? Thanks!

  • The quick solution is to open the SE instruments and replace the patches with the ones from the full AS. Another option would be to add a hidden staff, and place the keyswitch notes there. Another option would be to create you own playback rules (not for the weak of heart).

  • Thank you for answer. But how to do this exatcly - I need to choose one, and I think the easiest one is: "open the SE instruments and replace the patches with the ones from the full AS" How to manage this? I have never done anything like this.. Is there any tutorial step by step how to do this? So I should first open string instruments in "Score setup" in Notion and choose one of sets for VSL Special Edition. No matter which one? And edit chosen sets later in Vienna Instrument? Yes? But how? Please, help!!

  • The exact procedcure will vary depending on if you're using Window/MAC and VI/VI Pro.

  • Ok.. I use Windows 8 and VI.

  • In Windows Explorer, go to C:\Program Files\Notion 4\Support\PluginData\VSL_v2.  Here you will find all the VSL instrument presets.

Double click an instrument, and it will open as a blank score in Notion. Press Ctrl-I to open the VI interface.  You'll see that all the matrix cells are red, because you don't have the SE samples. BUT, the name of the samples are there. One by one, drop the samples from you full AS collection into each red cell. Use the ones that match the best. When you're finished, save and exit Notion. Then repeat for each instrument.

Be sure to make a backup of all the instruemnt before you begin. Also make a backup of you're changed instruments, as sometimes Notion updates wrote over all the presets.
