  • Dimension Brass with Sibelius?

I am considering buying Dimension Brass, and I note that it is made up of ensembles rather than solo instruments. If my score is laid out for individual players, eg 4 parts for the four horns, and I use Dimension Brass Horn Ensemble on each part, will that work? I ask because it states that the ensemble can be divided into solo players, but how will that work in practice in Sibelius? I also note that muted performance isn't included. Would I be better to buy full version single instruments of Triple Horn, Trumpet, Tenor and Bass Trombone, and the muted versions? I'm thinking that may be more cost effective. What do you think?

  • Hello Phil!

The Dimension Brass collection includes individual players for each section. So you can assign individual players or groups of two, three or four players to every staff in Sibelius.

As you have written, the Dimension Brass collection doesn't include muted articulations.

Anyway, for Brass sections the Dimension Brass collection, especially if they are written divisi and not unisono, would be my first choice.

If muted articulations are important for you, the Single Instruments or the "Brass I" Instrument Collection might be an alternative (or an addition).

    Best regards,
    Andi
