    only AU synths are showing up in the new version. Stand alone or Pro Tools host- I uysed to have many working RTAS, and now have a number of AAX- none of which appear in the list of loadable plug-ins

    I think you're mistaken. VE Pro has only ever been able to load AU on OSX and VST on Windows.

    My mistake- yes Vienna Ensmeble Pro does only accept AU- and was using those copies of the plug-ins I think of as beingt RTAS in Pro Tools. It turns out that the new copy of Vienna Ensemble Pro was just not finding the old plug-ins folder- it wanted them to be inside the libray, as opposed to outside of it, so I duplicated my .component files into the library plug-ins folder- and now all my instruments have shown up.
