  • Upgrading to VE 5-- and going from PC to Mac

    Hello,

I have been running my VE4 on a Mac which was booted as an XP machine using bootcamp. This was all setup a few years ago, so I haven't needed to touch it until recently when a drive failed. So, now I want to upgrade to VE5 AND at the same time, stop using the XP OS (switching over to Snow Leopard). What do I need to know or do in order to make the transition as smooth as possible? Can I use the downloader program to install the missing instruments that went down with the drive? Will it matter that many of my sessions (ProTools sessions) were done on a mac using the XP OS for the server (will the old sessions open up flawlessly on the server version running on the Mac?).

    thanks!

    Mike

  • I would also like to mention that it seems as if the Content drives are formatted for PC (NTFS). It looks like I have to reformat the content drives and reinstall all of the instruments. Is it mission critical to put the content back on these two drives in the exact same way as it was when the drives were being useed by the XP VEP4 server? Same heirarchy??

I just want to be sure so I don't have to do the whole install twice.

    Thanks again!

  • Looking a little you will find NTFS drivers for MAC OS X (Paragon ......)

  • Thanks Cyril,

But I'm looking to switch over to a completely Mac setup. I would like to keep all drives HFS+ which is the native Mac format. I could also install paragon HFS+ drivers onto the Windows XP Boot drive, correct?
