  • How processor-intensive is VE Pro 5?

Another post as I try to figure out what to do about a VE Pro 5 slave machine. I'm set on a Windows machine, for the obvious reason that it allows me to use VST's that won't work on a Mac, which is what I use for Pro Tools. I'm trying to get away for as little money as possible with this build. Don't have much to spare, and I'd rather buy more VSL strings than a whizzy PC. I was thinking of going for a used motherboard and CPU. There seem to be a bunch of early i7's on ebay at the moment, all with full-size ATX boards - I'd like to go for a micro ATX board to make it easier to move between the two places I work, but there isn't much available used. So, maybe I wind up with two machines that stay put for the same amount of money as one new one. The question is, assuming I load up with as much RAM as I can and use a SSD for sample data, what's the performance hit - for VE Pro 5 and for the hosted VST's - for using a 950 vs. a 4770? I've been reading up as much as I can about this stuff, but I'm still on the steep part of the learning curve, so any help anyone can give me would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Myles PS How do I make paragraphs on this forum?
