  • Ensemble Pro 5

Hello Paul, I just installed Ensemble Pro 5. I can add instruments and VSTs and the voices play via my keyboard. The problem is a midi instrument track in Cubase 7 or a midi VST track does play any of the loaded instruments in VEP5 when there is midi data present. I didn't see anything in the manual or videos showing how to access via the DAW any of the instruments or VST that are active in VEP5. Perhaps they are activated via midi channels, but I can't even access them through channel one. I normally, in Cubase 7, just add instrument tracks and record the midi data for the created track, but can't see to get a correspondence between Cubase 7 and VEP5. I'm sure there must be an easy solution. I'm running a MacPro 10.8 with 32 gigs of ram. Thanks, Bill McFadden

    1. Start VEP server. Not standalone.
    2. Start Cubase
    3. Load VEP in the VST rack
    4. Connect to server
    5. Hit "raise" if you don't see the VEP GUI
    6. Load instruments
    7. Create MIDI track and connect it to VEP
    8. Done

If I was to hazard a guess, I would say that you are falling at the first fence.

  • Hi DG. Thanks for your response. I did start the vep server, not standalone, first. Started cubase, loaded vep in the vst rack, connected to the server. The vep gui appeared. I loaded instruments and created a midi track and connected it to vep. Problem was when I recorded midi data into the midi tracks, the sound wasn't triggered. Both vep and cubase are using the same sound module. I got sound when I played the keyboard only. I think the problem was loading instruments before I loaded vep in the vst rack. Anyway it's working now. Thanks a lot, Bill
