  • Soundset Issue

    Hi!

I'm trying to mix VSL with a general midi soundset since I'm writing for orchestra + band currently. Works fine except the fact that everytime i write articulations (stacc. or marc or whatever) on the piano staff, it automatically starts playing trumpets or horns even though I've put the piano on a separate instance and selected prefered sounds.

Also the sound can't be changed in the mixer, since it switches to the articulation while playing.

    Any solution to this?

    /A

  • Hello snattack!

I can only guess here. Maybe the piano is notated on a wrong instrument. I would add a piano from the Sibelius instrument menu again. Then cut and paste the content from the old staves to the new ones. Additionally I would make sure to have a channel for all instruments reserved on the Manual Sound Sets page for Vienna Ensemble AND the General MIDI device.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Done all of that, still no result. Also, now the violins uses flute articulations even though I've chosen prefered instruments on the string instance, both individually (violins, viola, vcl) and the general strings.

    Sibelius drives me crazy...

  • If you want to, you can send us your score and Playback Configuration files (xml file AND data folder) to support [at] vsl [dot] co [dot] at and we will take a look at it.

Please also let us know which Sibelius version and other instruments you are using and which OS you are working on.

Depending on your OS and Sibelius version, the Sibelius Playback Configurations can be found in one of the following folders:

    Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8: Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 6\Playback Configurations or
    Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\Avid\Sibelius 7\Playback Configurations

    Windows XP: Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 6\Playback Configurations or
    Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\Avid\Sibelius 7\Playback Configurations

    Mac OS X: Users/your username/Library/Application Support/Sibelius Software/Sibelius 6/Playback Configurations or
    Users/your username/Library/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius 7/Playback Configurations

    Best regards,

  • Thanks, but the deadline here is just to tight, so I'll have to manage without. If I can't solve it after this project I'll send it over.

    Best,

    Andreas
