  • VEP and Mac / PC ProTools Kontakt Questions!

All, I am new to the whole VEPro world... pretty cool so far.

I have two machines. An i7 Macbook Pro (16gb ram) and a Dell Precision t7500 (48GB ram, running ProTools HD2Accel)

    Here is my questions.

I am trying to set up a template for my songwriting and have VEPro host Komplete 8 outside of ProTools to take advantage of the RAM I have. I only use one ProTools rig at a time.

It took me almost a day but I got my template set up on the Macbook with multiple outputs from each individual drum kit piece going back into ProTOols.

Now I am trying to do the same on the PC so I can easily open songs from the Macbook on the Dell and vice versa... and that's where I am running into problems. A few questions:

    1. I see that the Macbook version of VEPRo loaded the AU version of Kontakt ... the PC wants to use VST. How can I make the mac use VST?

    2. I exported my VEPRo project as well as my mixer settings inside Kontakt (that mixer is a pain to get to work with ProTOols) but when I tried to open my multi in Kontakt it tells me that it is encrypted... strange.

How can I get this all working?!

    thanks in advance!

  • You can't automatically change AU to VST. VSL plugs will probably work, but those from other developers probably won't.

  • Can I uninstall the AU version of Komplete on the Mac and force it to use VST?

  • No, because VEP uses AU on OSX, not VST.
