Hi everyone,
I am trying to get a portable version of my system together - to allow me to break free from the confines of my studio on the odd occasion! I'm a media composer.
I have a Mid 2010 Macbook (not pro) - I will install Logic Pro and VE Pro on this.
I have a 2011 Mac Mini Server (which has VE Pro installed, and quite a few instrument libraries).
I have all my software libraries from my main home system (Mac Pro) backed up on a USB 1TB drive.
So - I was thinking:
1. I can connect the Mac Mini to the MacBook via Ethernet.
2. What shall I do with the other library stuff on the 1TB USB drive....won't it be too slow to run via USB? If I get a 1TB network drive, would that be better? I only have one Ethernet port on my MacBook, so I guess it would have to connect via a splitter??
3. The Mac Mini server also has a thunderbolt socket....could I use that, and then stream it all via Ethernet to my MacBook - would that be best, or a total disaster??
So many options - not sure where to start - any help gratefully received!
Thanks a lot!
