Dear Sirs, I just downloaded and installed * Vienna Choir I Standard Library * Vienna Instruments PRO 2 * eLicenser Control Center version 6.5.4.2130 - and I've received a Software USB Stick from VSL. I've done the following in order to get started with VSL: * registered the activation codes with eLicenser (Vienna Instrument + Vienna Choir I, Vienna Instrument + Vienna Instruments PRO) * located the package.info file with the Library Installer * the Directory Manager seems to have accepted the path for the library. * a Custom Data folder has been specified in the Directory Manager * the Vienna Key has been registered on VSL's homepage. When I run the maintenance task of eLicenser it reports 'OK' for all 6 steps. I have a standard Windows7 64-bit PC and I intend to use the built-in soundcard for now. When I start Vienna Instruments Pro Standalone I get the following error-message no matter if I run as administrator or not: Error starting audio: No hardware found or already in use - and there is nothing displayed in the Preset-Matrix-Patch-section What am I doing wrong? Best regards, Stefan Borum

[SOLVED] Newbee trouble

Welcome Stefan,
Thanks for the detailed description, seems to be a driver issue with your internal soundcard. I assume that the free audio driver from www.asio4all.com will solve your problem.
Please let me know if that worked!

I installed the ASIO driver and something is working - at least the status bar reports 'Engine running' with some CPU activity and keys can be pressed in the keyboard. However, the browser is empty in all tabs (Preset, Matrix, and Patch). All video tutorials have many instruments in the Patch browser but I cannot find my 'V23_Vienna-Choir-I_full_v2' although it is shown in the Directory Manager. I am certainly missing some point. How should I proceed?

Hi sborum,
Please open the Directory Manager (find it in "Applications" (OS X) or "All Programs" (Win) => then "Vienna Instruments").
Remove all folders - then add all sample content again by drag and drop from your Finder/Explorer.
More information about how the Directory Manager works can be found in this video.

It didn't help to remove and re-add the folder 'V23_Vienna-Choir-I_full_v2' by drag'n'drop.
The folder contains 11.4 GB data in accordance with 'Vienna-Choir-I_full_files.txt'.
I thought it could be a license issue but eLicenser seems ok:
> Right pane contains 'Vienna Instrument' + 'Vienna Choir I' and 'Vienna Instrument' + 'Vienna Instruments PRO' no matter what is chosen in left pane.
> Left pane has two entries: (1) a key + 'My Licenses - All available licenses' and (2) a USB-stick + (alphanumeric numbers) 'xxxxxxx - yyyyyy - USB-eLicenser'.
- and Maintenance Task reports 'OK' in all 6 steps. The Preset-Matrix-Patch-section in 'Vienna Instruments PRO' is still empty and I guess that's why I'm still not able to hear my new choir.
Best regards,
StefanPS: I tried to run 'Directory Manager' as Administrator since it might update the registry. First time I succeeded but wasn't allowed to drag'n'drop into it. Later I was only able to run it without Administrative priviliges (?!?).
PPS: I'm using 'Avast' anti-virus. Could it be a problem?

Hi Stefan,
Yes, Anti-Virus programs can limit the access and permissions. Did you try to go offline and deactivate your anti-virus program yet?
Did you also check the permissions on your sample content folder?
I assume you have also installed the latest version of Vienna Instruments PRO once again, is that correct?
I´m sure we can make this work. Maybe you can also send some screenshots to
, so I can see the error messages.
Best,
Paul
